Bubba Fett
Bubba Fett. Most of you just smiled and already know what this strain canna-do for you because it never stays on the shelves for long! The name hints that our friend comes from a galaxy far, far away, but Bubba Fett was first created by Green Dream Cannabis in Boulder, Colorado. While the exact year this flower was invented eludes me, I can tell you Green Dream Cannabis started in 2010 and that Bubba Fett was exclusively available in Colorado for many years. This indica-dominant hybrid is often potent in THC and can even have high levels of CBD.
My first experience with Bubba Fett was on opening day of Old Route 66 in Springfield, Missouri. There were three strains available and Bubba was one of them. Being a fan of the bounty hunter of the same name (my dog’s name is Boba Fettch) meant that an eighth was coming home with me. I felt like I did as a new smoker. First I got giggly, although I must admit I’m always laughing. Not long after I was reaching for the snacks. A lot of snacks. Like three snacks. I threw a movie on, but don’t ask me what it was because I fell asleep on that couch! Woke up in the middle of the night and drearily made my way to bed. This was definitely a strain I’d be saving for later than 8pm. Unless, of course, I wanted to consume a lot of hot wings. Others who have had the strain report similar effects and Bubba Fett has helped many with anxiety, depression, insomnia, loss of appetite, and even PTSD. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a bit this week after missing some two weeks ago, but this time I was ready and had a giant salad and sandwich on hand. Still needed multiple nights to finish a movie, but I fell asleep in bed this time and slept wonderfully.
Bubba’s beautiful buds are often ranging between different shades of green and purple. The pungent skunky aroma often can be smelled through bags, but a closer sniff will reveal sweet and spicy notes. Let’s talk Fett’s Flavor, piney and earthy with a subtle sweetness that’ll make you want to smoke it twice. And then, after a brief stop by the snack drawer or a small bite of ice cream, you’ll be ready to wrap up in a blanket and drift away.
Bubba Fett’s main terpenes are myrcene, pinene, and limonene. We talked about myrcene last week and I know you’re pinene for more knowledge so let’s check out the most abundant terpene on earth! While myrcene is the most dominant terpene in most strains, pinene is the most common terpene found on the planet. Pinene can be found in many different herbs besides cannabis, in pine trees and other conifer plants (surprise!), and even in oranges. Walking through a pine forest has been attributed with better moods because of the anti-inflammatory effects of pinene. But I’d also like to add that it’s hard to not feel better after being able to enjoy time outdoors! There are two types of pinene, alpha- and beta- , and alpha-pinene is the more dominant in cannabis. Studies have shown that both forms paired together have anti-tumor properties and that alpha-pinene has been effective in treating prostrate cancer in mice. Pinene has also shown benefits to memory function! Which reminds me, if anyone knows where I left the other half of that sandwich I mentioned in paragraph two please tell me before my dog finds it!
